Q: How does the Mystery Reader work?
A: You (or another family member) can come in to be a mystery reader to the class. Just let me know by email that you are interested and we will set up a date and time. You will choose a book from home to read. It is your choice whether or not you would like to tell your child about it beforehand. Many parents like to keep it a surprise. Older siblings can also be a mystery reader, just let me know their teacher (if at Eliot) and I can arrange a time directly with them. If it is an adult coming in as a mystery reader, you must have a current CORI form on file.
Q: Do students have outdoor recess if it snows?
A: Students go out almost every day for outdoor recess, the only exceptions are rainy days and extreme cold temperature days. During snowy days please send your child to school with snow pants, boots, a warm jacket, and mittens or gloves. If your child does not have boots and snowpants, they will need to stay on the pavement during recess.
Q: Is there a mid-year progress report?
A: Kindergarten does not have a mid-year progress report, but all the other grades do. The next time we meet with be during spring conferences. If you have any questions, concerns, or would just like an update on your child, please reach out by email and we can set something up.
